2012 is another volatile year for shipping industry in the world. The US sub-prime mortgage crisis, European debt crisis and the stagnant world economy continues to exert negative impact on the global shipping market. Quite a number of organizations, countries and regions including IMO, EU, USA etc. signed low carbon and environmental protection treaties, and promulgated standards and regulations that are to take effect in 2013, which will bring about new challenges and opportunities for ship owners/shipping lines, shipyards, equipment/technology suppliers.
